Data Saver mode in Chrome browser is not new, it was introduced last year, the data saver mode allows users to load optimized versions of the web pages when enable and it will save nearly 50 percent of the data.
The updated data saver mode in Chrome for Android will go beyond that and block website images so that users can save more data. But browsing sites with out images can get awkward at times particularly with pages having lot of images, in these situations you can load the images with a click. There is a link at the end of the screen to load all the images once or load some of the images on the page.
The feature is being rolled out in India and Indonesia for now and later it will be introduced in the coming months according to Google blogpost. Google didn’t mention whether this feature will make it to iOS as well, but we are guessing that it will be available at a later date. For now iPhone users has to live with the 50 percent savings.
To enable data saver mode go to Menu and settings in Chrome for Android and enable the Data saver mode.
