They’ve already had a huge amount of interest but many of the entrants have expressed the need for more time to create their concepts, for this reason the entry period has been extended until December 18th this year. This gives both professional and emerging designers alike a better chance to fully explore their unique take on form and function.
Of course, if you’re putting in more time it’s nice to get a little more back so, in addition to this extension, they’ve also increased the prize value from $1,000 to $2,500 for each category winner!! A bit more incentive for those that were sitting on the fence!
Finalists will now be announced on January 31st, so stay tuned to their website for more gallery examples and entry tips as the competition progresses.
Everything else stays the same, but for those that are new to the competition, here’s some deets:
- Two entry categories – professional and emerging designer
- Finalists’ designs will be rendered in 3D and featured in New Zealand’s first virtual sculpture park
- The winning designs will be fully fabricated then auctioned for The Ronald McDonald House Charities
- Sculptor James Wright remains the head Judge.
